W hoever designed the Peony dies is a genius. The five pieces nest together perfectly resulting in a three-dimensional flower with several layers, yet attaching it to a card front or project is easy.
Project Recipe
1. Cut a whisper white card base at 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4".
Cut a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock at 5 3/8" x 4 1/8".
Layer the Smoky Slate cardstock onto the card front.
2. Cut a piece of Peony Garden patterned paper at 4" x 5 1/4".
Emboss the piece using the Tasteful Textile embossing folder.
Add it to the card front.
3. Cut a piece of vellum at 4 1/2" x 3 1/4".
Use the scallop die from the Peony die set to create a border across the bottom.
Add the vellum piece to the card front.
4. Use the Peony die set to create the flower.
The five die pieces you will use are shown in the photo.
Die cut the four petals from Whisper White cardstock and the floral center from Daffodil Delight cardstock.
5. To create the flower, nest the die cut pieces.
6. Begin with piece #1 and nest it into piece #2 as shown in the photo. The slit provided makes it easy to slip the smaller piece into the larger one.
The bottoms of the nested pieces will line up.
Add a glue dot to hold these pieces together.
7. Add the piece from Step 6 into piece #3 by sliding it into the slit provided.
Again, turn the piece over to match the bottoms and adhere the new piece with a glue dot.
Now, slide the finished piece from Step. 7 into piece #4 as shown in the photo.
Again, match the bottoms and add a glue dot to adhere.
9. Add the flower center by sliding it into place securing it with a glue dot.
Admire your beautiful flower.
10. Turn your finished flower over to make sure the pieces all line up at the bottom.
11. Use Pear Pizzazz cardstock to die cut the leaves.
Add the flower and leaves to the card front.
12. On a 1" x 3" of Smoky Slate cardstock, use Smoky Slate ink to stamp the sentiment from the Fancy Phrases stamp set.
Punch the right end using the Lovely Labels punch and add to the card front as shown in the photo.
13. Add three Elegant Facets Gems to finish the card.
Here is another card I made using the Peony Garden Suite.
This suite is incredibly versatile.
