S imple, masculine birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Pumpkin Pie Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Basic Black Cardstock
- multiple strips of Timid Tiger Cardstock, Pumpkin Pie Cardstock, and Cajun Craze Cardstock each 3/4" to 1" wide and 5-1/2" long
- 2-1/2" x 3-7/8" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 2-5/8" x 4" from Basic Black Cardstock
Work on top of a Silicone Craft Sheet so cardstock doesn't stick to your work surface. WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the strips of Timid Tiger, Pumpkin Pie, and Cajun Craze cardstock onto the horizontal 4" x 5-1/4" Basic Black rectangle to figure out spacing and placement. Once happy with the arrangement, adhere the strips in place one at a time. Use scissors to cut off excess cardstock on all four sides.
Adhere the striped background layer to the front of the Pumpkin Pie card.
As you are ready to stamp using the Along These Lines Set or Blooming Phrases Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of Grid Paper on top of the Mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the tiger image from the Along These Lines Set on Block E. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Pad. Stamp it in the center of the horizontal vanilla rectangle so the top of the tiger is about 1/4" from the top edge.
Mount the "happy" sentiment from the Blooming Phrases Set on Block H. Ink up ONLY the word and the very beginning of the tail by pressing it carefully to the open Tuxedo Black Memento Pad. Stamp it below the tiger on the left side so it is about 1/4" from the bottom and left edges.
Mount the "birthday" sentiment from the Blooming Phrases Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Pad. Stamp it below the tiger in line with the word "happy" leaving a small space between the end of the "happy" tail and the "b" in "birthday.
Use the fine tip of the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to draw in the rest of the lines on either side of the tiger image and at the start of the word "happy" as needed.
Rub a Blending Brush across the open Timid Tiger Ink Pad to get it inky. Rub off some excess ink on Grid Paper. Then, lightly rub the inky blending brush over the center of the stamped vanilla rectangle in a circular motion as shown. Get more ink on the blending brush as needed.
Rub the same Blending Brush across the open Pumpkin Pie Ink Pad to get it inky. Rub off some excess ink on Grid Paper. Then, lightly rub the inky blending brush over the center of the previously inked area in a circular motion as shown. Get more ink on the blending brush as needed.
Adhere the stamped and blended vanilla rectangle to the center of the remaining black rectangle and then to the center of the card front.
